Drug use among adolescents, 23 percent in five years
Drug use among adolescents by 23 percent since 2001 for Class 8, 10 and 12, together with the reduction in the use of most drugs in each category, the prevalence of drugs in 2006 was to University of Michigan Monitoring the Future (MTF) released today. This translates into approximately 840,000 fewer young people using illicit drugs in 2006 compared with 2001. The last month of methamphetamine among youth have fallen 50 percent since 2001, less than one percent (0.7%) of students with the methods at least once in the last 30 days before the interview. It was a radical change in drug abuse among American teenagers, said John P. Walters, Director of National Drug Control.
