Chloropropanols in meat products

A Food Standards Agency (UK) examination in propanol 1,3-dichloroethane (1,3-DCP) has not tested him found in meat. 1,3-DCP is a chemical that could harm peoples health. The investigation has been following the results of a Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) survey, 1,3-DCP was purchased in samples of raw and cooked meat and meat products in Australia. This was a new discovery, because 1,3-DCP can be found in these foods before and some of the samples contained 1,3-DCP and 3-monochloro-propane-1 ,2-diol (3 - MCPD, the precursor of 1, 3 - DCP) was not detected.
3-MCPD and 1,3-DCP-both belong to a group of chemicals called chloropropanols. 3-MCPD found in many foods at low levels after treatment. There is concern that these chemicals can cause harm to people ifCheap eutiroxconsumed at high levels over a long period of time. To find out if 1,3-DCP was present in meat and meat products on sale in the UK, 28 samples of beef, pork and lamb sausages, ground beef and whole sections of meat were purchased. Central Science Laboratory analyzed raw and cooked samples for 1,3-DCP and 3-MCPD.
1,3-DCP was detected in any samples. Low levels of 3-MCPD were detected in five samples of cooked. This was not unexpected, given that low previously found in similar products. The full picture of the results is shown in the link below, there is no legal limit for 3-MCPD in these products. It is not necessary for the people to their diet following the results of this research to change. A research project agency on the factors influencing the formation of 3-MCPD infoods is due to complete by the end of the year (2004).The results are used to assist the Council in the food industry in all measures taken to reduce levels can of 3-MCPD to be informed.
